28th of August to the 29th

28th of August

Into town to the Laundromat I left Kate after all the washing was on and took the kids to the shops to top up our supplies. Returned to pick up the washing and Mum and headed to where we had booked in for Paronella Park. The cost was $38 per adult and our kids were free but for our $76 we got a powered site also for the night. The park was a great place to check out and amazing what one man can do by himself. This park was built around the 1930s and was built mainly by a man and his family. The closest thing to compare would be Hearst castle in the states the difference being the one in the states he was so rich and paid someone to design and hundreds of people to build his this guy did everything himself. We went for a walk around the park with the kids and enjoyed a peaceful afternoon when realizing the kids were too tired to do the night tour. I enjoyed the night tour by myself and had a great tour guide who seemed to know more about my slr camera then I did and managed to teach me how to take a couple of nicer pics.

29th of August we packed up and had to get the van out of the caravan park by 10am (which is normal) But our tickets still allow us access to the day tour and back into the park. With the kids this time we enjoyed the day tour with more history being talked about and learnt more about it creator. After our tour we enjoyed some morning tea with great country service and nice chat with the waitress who also does the tours 4 out of her 5 days she works there. After Morning tea we head south again and aim for somewhere near Townsville. We call in to Tully for lunch at the park where there also happens to be a big gum boot which is the same height as the annual rain fall they had back in 1950 something. They have a lot of rain in Tully with nearly 8metres falling in one year in the 1950’s. After lunch we press on to another free camp this time beside the beach. The place is Saunders Beach. We squeeze in to the last spot available and enjoy a beer with the other people camped next to us.
