2nd of June
Straight to Darwin, just on 300km to get there. I have a cousin based In Darwin so looking forward to have a few cheap weeks hanging around Darwin.
3rd -18th of June
We have been enjoying our time in Darwin going to Bindi Beach Markets, there two free water parks which I still can’t believe there free with huge water slides and kids play area. We also had some friends from Sydney come up for the weekend and I went on a fishing charter with them. The fishing charter boat looked great and the 4hrs on the Darwin harbour was nice but only one person caught a fish out of 12 people. While our friends were up from Sydney we also enjoyed a lunch feed out at Humpty doo Hotel with some barra, croc and buffalo mini burgers. Other things done while in Darwin is a day at the wave pool in Darwin with my cousin, a trip to the b52 plane Museum, out to the war museum, the beer boat regatta, a muck around in our 4wds out at a place where the army drive there mogs and out to the jumping Crocs on the Adelaide river.

 28th of June

Packed up and started the trip to Katherine. We called in had a look at lake Argyle, it is 35km off the main road and we enjoyed some morning tea while at the park below the dam wall. After morning tea we were back on the road and heading to the northern territory Boarder. After a quick stop at the boarder for photos we had planned on heading for a national park camp near Timber creek. It was only going to cost $3.30 per adult but was full, so a quick look in the free camp book said there was another 5km up the road on top of a lookout. On arrival at this free camp there was a sign saying no camping but it now was after 5pm. I ended up taking the chance a ranger wouldn’t turn up and anyway I had a good story and excuse that I was tired etc. Well due to the no camping sign it was great no one else turned up and for some reason there was a big pile of wood for a camp fire for us to use while enjoying the sunset over the river below.

There must be some dumb people the signs are 50m apart down the entire hill

 love a good Dam
AT the Border good to see states working together to use the same posts doubt this would happen between Vic and Nsw

to Katherine.

We headed to Katherine today with less of a drive so arrived just before lunch. The kids spent the afternoon in the pool then we headed down to the hot springs for a swim before dinner.

Had to get some groceries so off to woolworths. Well I have never seen anything like it, every check was 10 trolleys long. I was talking to other people in the queue and they were all caravanners. It looked like some cyclone was coming and everyone was stocking up on their supplies. Its remarkable how many people are on the road with all the free camps having people pulling in at 11am to set up camp for the night so they don’t miss out. We spent the afternoon again at the hot springs with some time spent on the rope swing was fun.

1st of July

We headed out to Katherine Gorge I wasn’t going to do the boat ride as it cost $90 each and we did the gorge boat ride a geikie gorge. I was going to go for a walk and enjoy the gorge from the look out, but on the way out there was a helicopter ride for $85 each over the gorge the pilot let Mum hold the baby while Jess and Megan shared a seat and he charged us for the 3 seats we took up. The kids enjoyed the Helicopter ride and at least the cheapest way to see part of Australia from a helicopter on our lap. We spent the night watching fireworks as it was NT day, seems crazy that they still sell fireworks to the public and even more amusing watching young kids crossing the road during the day after purchasing enough fireworks they are struggling to carry them.

Our spot in the caravan Park worked out Great next to the camp Kitchen and the caravan park also was walking distance to the hot springs and didn't charge for Kids under 5
