Last day in Broome. We head into China Town for a look around with the wife enjoying a look. We ended up staying there for lunch at a Chinese Restaurant which to my surprise was very nice. We picked up supplies and fuel ready to depart tomorrow.

Had plans today to head to a free camp on the east side of Fitzroy crossing today, But after speaking to my Mum on the internet about Fitzroy crossing and a place called Geikie Gorge then speaking to a gentleman at a road side rest stop who also told us about it we ended up stopping at Fitzroy crossing at the lodge caravan park. Where we ended up at the caravan park was opposite the above gentleman from the rest stop and he got there before me and had found out all the info about a boat ride in Geikie Gorge. The cost was $30 for each adult the kids ended up being free and it was 18km out of town and had to be there before 3pm. The boat ride was a real nice way to start seeing the Kimberly gorges and see some fresh water crocs in the wild and a relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

Free camp is the plan to night we had one lined up about 100km east of Halls Gap. We called into Halls gap for Fuel and had some lunch in the park before making our way to our free camp where before I had even turned my car off had a gentleman come over telling me I could put the van near him as it was a nice spot. We spent the afternoon walking down to the river and then collected a little bit of fire wood on our return to have a camp fire. I also collected a bit of fire wood around the camp and the gentleman who I met earlier helped me even collect some and we got the fire going and the girls enjoyed some afternoon tea of burnt marshmallows, while I had a chit chat. After dinner we sat around the camp fire the girls went to bed and we continued to have a chit chat with the gentleman and his wife until the fire ran out of fuel.

266km drive today up to Kununurra. This was by far my favourite part of the drive from Broome this is hilly country and the road twists and turns between mountain ranges and climbs up to 430metres according to the gps. Kununurra is a busy place 3 caravan parks were full and the petrol for some reason is over $1.80 when little towns like halls creek were $1.60. I ended up camping at the show ground where they open it for big rigs and people with dogs I had neither but the care taker let me in due to lack of sites elsewhere. I ended up getting one night unpowered and then the next night powered (I didn’t have to move the van, just plug in my lead) The unpowered site was $17 and the powered was $32. I only got the powered site for the next night to charge up all the lap tops etc before leaving town.

Drove up for a day trip to Wyndham Today, we went up via a back road on dirt crossing creeks and seen a couple of no swimming croc warning signs on the water crossing which was cool to see. We ended up at five rivers look out at Wyndham where the awesome view was covered a bit by back burning so even though I could see the mountain range through the smoke it wouldn’t show up nice in the pics. We drove back to Kununurra via the black top this time and on the way drove up a dirt road into a national park. The care taker at the show ground told me about it and it lead up to a nice spring fed water fall.
